Thinking Lab on Migration & Integration
Dr. Steffi Gentner studied International Relations (M.A.) and Law (no state examination) and obtained a PhD in Economics. She gained experience at Amnesty International, the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Singapore, UNHCR and UNRWA. She worked for the World Health Organization in Geneva and recently she finished her one year assignment as Country Director in Lebanon of Humedica International Aid.
On 13-15 October 2017, #DialogueOnEurope contributors from eight European countries will meet in Rome for the third and last European Thinking Lab Summit. This three-day meeting will give them the opportunity to further discuss the four main topics of the project, namely Migration & Integration, Populism, Social Cohesion and Sustainable Growth, and to finalise their policy recommendations for European decision-makers through various work and exchange sessions. On 28 June 2016, the German Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, together with the German Federal Minister of State for Europe, Michael Roth, officially launched the DIALOGUE ON EUROPE-project at the Europasaal of the German Federal Foreign Office in Berlin. (more…)
The Thinking Lab on Migration & Integration focuses on one of the most crucial challenges currently faced by the European Union. Within one year, based on the diverse experiences Southern European countries and Germany have so far gathered, the Lab will deliver a genuine European perspective on migration and integration policy. The concept of “people on the move” rather than “refugees” or “migrants” remains the center of the debate.
