Within its 2016 report, CEAR displays the extent of global forced displacement and the search for asylum, especially within the European Union. CEAR criticises the EU-Turkey agreement and presents own policy proposals for the European Union and the Spanish government.
On the European level the proposals focus on the necessity of a common European asylum and migration policy as well as effective rescue operations and the opening of secure legal channels to access asylum. The Spanish government is urged to withdraw support for the EU-Turkey agreement, significantly increase refugee reception, and to open up legal avenues of access to the asylum procedure.
